Jimmy Carter’s grandson provides a tragic update on his grandfather’s condition following Rosalynn Carter’s burial ceremony.

Earlier this week, Jimmy Carter made a rare public appearance at the memorial service for his late wife, Rosalynn Carter, dressed in a black suit and tie.

The former president received hospice care in February after turning down additional medical attention, and he was there to support his wife during her last few hours of life before she passed away.

Carter reportedly attended Rosalynn’s memorial service at Atlanta’s Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church in a wheelchair with the assistance of his kids.

Jason Carter, the grandson of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, gave an update on his grandfather’s condition before to the memorial service, speculating that the 39th President of the United States would not live long.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter had known each other since they were young children in Plains, Georgia, and had lived almost their whole lives together.

Therefore, it seemed sense that the two were together on Saturday, November 19, in the final moments of Rosalynn. Given that the former First Lady was 96 years old, her passing was not surprising, but many have taken time to honor her life on Earth since her passing.

According to accounts, Rosalynn passed away on November 19 at 2:10 p.m. at her Plains, Georgia, home. The former First Lady worked alongside her husband in the White House from 1977 to 1981, but in the intervening years, she has carried out humanitarian projects through the Carter Center.

Regretfully, for the past year, Rosalynn and Jimmy’s health has declined. Jimmy Carter declined medical treatment for a number of health issues, and in February he started hospice care.

It’s widely thought that Jimmy’s illness will swiftly deteriorate now that Rosalynn has gone.

Prior to Rosalynn’s funeral, his grandson Jason Carter appeared to confirm this to the New York Post.

“He’s coming to the end, and he’s very, very physically diminished,” he remarked.

“He has been this moral rock for so many people, but she really was that rock for him.”

Amy Carter, the couple’s daughter, read a letter from Jimmy to his wife when he was overseas serving in the Navy during Rosalynn’s moving funeral ceremony.

“My darling, every time I’ve ever been away from you, I have been thrilled when I returned to discover just how wonderful you are,” he said in the letter. “When I see you, I fall in love all over again.”

Rosalynn Carter, rest in peace. Let us all pray for the Carter family.
