Dad shocked when teenage son wears swimwear that is horribly inappropriate on a family cruise

When an 18-year-old lad wants to show off his beanbags while on a family holiday in the Caribbean, his father is making fun of him for it.

The young man’s father was shocked when he tried to wear a skimpy bathing suit on the vacation and insisted he get something less “sheer when wet.”

However, the father was left scratching his head when the kid came back from his little shopping excursion.

See why one parent was appalled by his son’s swimming suit by reading on!

A father, in need of guidance, posted a narrative on the ‘Am I the A**hole’ subreddit, describing a regrettable circumstance involving his 18-year-old son Jax during a Caribbean vacation.

The young man celebrated the conclusion of his school year by going on a weeklong vacation with his parents.

Although Jax is a wonderful child, he appears to struggle with confidence. as in too confident. writes, describing his brave kid as a “exhibitionist.” It is written by his father. “I have never witnessed anything akin to it. He is the world’s most confident man.” It’s not unjustified; he’s attractive, fit, and unquestionably a “Mr. Personality” type, but a little goes a long way.

The father goes on to say that Jax is really endearing and that he typically prevails when he opposes authority. However, the original poster (OP) adds, “But in this case, not so.”

Ship sets sail, outfit fails

Once the family was in their room, Jax got ready for his first time at the pool, thinking that his young lady audience would be impressed.

But his father was not impressed.

To put it mildly, his bathing suit was inappropriate. Not at all. Unquestionably a “flaunt it” kind of suit.

I advised him to change his clothes. He had nothing. All the child had brought for a weeklong cruise were those items. How could he have been thinking?

Jax had on an AussieBum bathing suit in the style of Speedo. To be clear, the brand claims that these “daring” swim briefs have “maximum sheerness when wet” and a “enhancing pouch.” Furthermore, the suit “maximizes detail,” particularly when the lighter hues are worn because they “are more sheer.”

“If they had been black, I might have let it slide, but not with the baby blue,” the original poster says. They actually have a “hey look at my big d***” marketing campaign. Furthermore, they went much beyond that; every aspect about them was completely clear.

Played the ‘dad card’

The father, embarrassed by his son’s outfit selection, kindly advised him to purchase a more fitting suit from one of the ship’s shops.

Even though Jax first objected to his father’s requests, he went shopping and came back with a new “speedo-style suit” that was still inappropriate but far better than his previous one. Naturally, he was unable to return a bikini. “I told him to go back and buy a proper suit like trunks or boardie shorts or whatever, which he reluctantly did,” the original poster goes on.

Jax went in and bought a suit that would make his father happy after pulling through a fight with him.

He cried about it and pleaded to wear his original, but I refused. He is a blatant flirt, so as I mentioned, I have to respect his confidence, but there are occasions and places where he shouldn’t be chatting up girls at the pool.

AITA and should I have simply let him wear what he wanted? I asked Redditors before posting. The father clarifies that all he wanted for his son to be “decent” was for Jax to have the money for the suits.

Since he can dress however he pleases and is technically an adult, I might be the a**hole.I felt that I had the right to set some restrictions because I was the one who paid for the trip and played the “dad card.” I might be in error.

“That is incredibly improper.”

Most people voiced their support after seeing a picture of Jax’s “budgie smugglers” (the poster included a link to the photo in his article).

One person says, “Ask your son if he would feel uncomfortable if you wore those and sat next to him.”

“I wouldn’t want to look at my child’s genitals either on a family vacation, but that’s just me,” says the second. Yes, he is eighteen, but I still wouldn’t want to see my child’s genitalia if they were fifty.

Regarding the father’s demands, other Redditors had differing views: “It’s just really sexual.” “Soft [You’re the A**hole] for not accepting a normal speedo, but [Not The A**hole] for not wanting her son to pervy out on a vacation with his parents.”

“After reading the title, I immediately thought YTA, but after seeing the picture, I was like, ‘Oh man, nevermind, that’s so inappropriate,'” a netizen comments.

Another claims that the boy was testing his father’s tolerance by wearing the first suit: “He probably would not have said anything if the kid had shown up wearing speedo #2 right away.” But he insisted on wearing shorts because he was already somewhat enraged about the “look at my d***” outfit.

The father responds to comments made by members of the public, some of whom call him a “prude,” saying he’s fine with Speedos but Jax wanted “to pull one over on Dad, and I wasn’t having it.”

“I’m not a prude,” he continues. Not even near. I don’t care, he can (usually) wear whatever he wants to wear.If it deems me a prude to not want my child to wear those in public, then so be it.

Should you find yourself in this father’s shoes? Kindly share this story with others so that we can hear what you think about it as well!”
