Mayra Lizbeth Rosales, originally from Mexico, was once considered one of the heaviest women in the world, with her weight reaching an astonishing 500 kilograms—half a ton.
She attributed her extreme weight not to a rare medical condition, but to her long-standing addiction to fast food and a lifestyle of unchecked overeating.
Surprisingly, Mayra was married during this time. Her husband appeared to enable her unhealthy habits by constantly bringing her food and making no effort to encourage change.
However, everything shifted when Mayra experienced a life-changing realization: she couldn’t keep living like this.
Determined to take control of her health, Mayra underwent several medical procedures, including gastric bypass surgery and the removal of excess skin and fat. Over time, she lost more than 200 kilograms.
She eliminated fast food from her diet for good, and as the weight dropped, she was finally able to begin exercising.
Through dedication and significant lifestyle changes, Mayra ultimately reached 92 kilograms—a remarkable feat, considering she once weighed five times that amount.
Although she and her husband have since divorced, they’ve maintained an amicable relationship. Today, Mayra is a confident, vibrant, and—most importantly—healthy woman.
What’s even more incredible is that despite the immense strain on her body, her internal organs and bodily systems continued to function even at her heaviest.
