Hugh Laurie was recently seen taking his beloved dog for a walk in the sunshine, though he seemed quieter than his usual energetic self.
For the premiere of his new sitcom, Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?, Laurie dressed smartly in black trousers and sneakers, a navy sweater, and a dark blue cap.
At 62, the actor—famed for House and Blackadder—is now working on a murder mystery adapted from Agatha Christie’s 1934 novel of the same name.
Featuring a star-studded cast, the series promises an engaging adaptation of one of Christie’s classics. Will Poulter plays Bobby Jones, the reverend’s son, while Frances Derwent portrays Lady Frances, his fearless sidekick; together, they unravel a perplexing murder. Jim Broadbent and Emma Thompson take on the roles of Lady Frances’s aristocratic parents.
Laurie not only portrays Dr. James Nicholson, a psychologist, in the miniseries but also serves as its director. He shared his enthusiasm for the project, revealing that he’s been a fan of the novel’s compelling mystery since his teenage years.
“I feel incredibly lucky to have the chance to both write and voice another story about these extraordinary characters—this work holds a special place in my heart,” he said. “I wanted to ensure my performance matched the talent of the ensemble, bringing my best to the role.”
