The impact a haircut can have—especially for a dog—is truly astonishing. Stray or abandoned dogs often suffer from severely neglected coats that become tangled, matted, and deeply uncomfortable.
One recent case involved a stray dog so matted she “looked like a wig” before receiving a transformative makeover at a rescue center. Mac’s Mission, a Missouri nonprofit devoted to aiding special-needs dogs, found the dog, now named Pear, in the middle of a road. Her fur was so thick and neglected that rescuers said she “didn’t even look like a dog,” but rather “just a wad of hair”.
Once in their care, a team of volunteers treated Pear to a full “spa session.” With gentle patience, they shaved and bathed her, removing the heavy, matted layers and revealing the true dog beneath.
