Great talent often stems from a desire to overcome early setbacks. For 11-year-old dancer Noah Epps, his journey into dance began in the first grade when older kids wouldn’t let him join their dance battles at recess because they thought he wasn’t good enough. Refusing to let that stop him, Noah spent the next four to five years honing his craft, culminating in a jaw-dropping audition on the grand stage of America’s Got Talent.
Before Noah performed, the judges noted how difficult it can be for a solo dancer to command such a massive stage on their own. However, the young dancer completely shattered those expectations. Dressed in a theatrical marionette-style outfit, Noah delivered a highly flexible, bone-breaking contemporary routine themed around a puppet coming to life, incorporating phrases like “Am I a real boy?” His incredible body isolation, transitions, and narrative-driven choreography left the entire room mesmerized.
The judges were thoroughly impressed by his artistic maturity. Howie Mandel readily admitted he was wrong about solo acts, declaring the performance to be absolutely “lit”. Sofia Vergara praised Noah’s incredible precision, while Heidi Klum expressed how much she loved his ability to tell a captivating story through movement. Simon Cowell closed out the praise by pointing out the fierce determination and “fire” in Noah’s eyes, labeling him a performer to watch in the competition. With a unanimous sweep of four “yes” votes, Noah Epps proved his doubters wrong and stepped firmly into the spotlight.
