Every now and then, an act comes along on America’s Got Talent that completely reshapes what the judges think is possible for someone their age. In the 2024 season, a 5-year-old drumming prodigy named Chris White did exactly that, delivering one of the most high-energy, technically impressive musical auditions the show has ever seen.
Walking onto the stage from Florida, little Chris immediately charmed the panel with his adorable personality and incredibly kind heart. When asked what he would do with a million dollars, he melted hearts by saying he would share it with the poor, homeless, and everyone in the world—saving just enough left over to buy 200 bags of slime and squishy toys.
But once he got behind his drum kit, the cute toddler vanished, replaced by a fierce rockstar. Chris revealed he had been playing the drums since he was just one or two years old, and it instantly showed. Standing up behind the kit because of his small stature, Chris blasted into a high-octane rock routine, handling complex rhythms, lightning-fast fills, and flawless timing that left the judges completely spellbound. His natural stage presence and infectious joy had the entire auditorium cheering.
The judges were left practically speechless. Heidi Klum pointed out that he was already better than most adults who try to make it on the show, while Simon Cowell enthusiastically disagreed with Howie Mandel’s assessment that the act was just “great.” Simon declared the performance “brilliant,” praising Chris’s impeccable Showmanship and naming him the coolest person on the planet. Naturally, Chris sailed through to the next round with four enthusiastic, well-deserved “yes” votes.
