When a famous supermodel takes over one of the world’s best known beaches, the fashion world pays attention. Dutch runway star Lara Stone landed one of the most wanted jobs in the business and headed to the golden sand and rocky edges of Sydney’s Bondi Beach for a big Vogue Australia editorial.
On the sunny shore she delivered a lesson in modern glamour. Lara wore a minimalist white bandeau bikini that celebrated the natural curves that have always set her apart on the runway. She moved carefully over slippery sea rocks and stepped through the foaming surf, adding oversized mirrored sunglasses and loose, icy blonde waves to the look.

Between takes, her warm and down to earth personality came through. She laughed with her male co-star and with members of the crew while the Australian heat beat down on the beach. The shoot was photographed by the famous fashion photographer Mario Testino, who had already captured her for the cover of British Vogue.
A large team worked around the rough terrain. Assistants stood by with umbrellas, cold water and fresh fruit, and they made sure the Dutch model stayed safe as she hopped along the shoreline. Later in the day the shoot moved into a second look, with Lara changing into a sleek black one-piece and a sporty white top for more dramatic pictures against the ocean.

The beach session was part of a busy trip that also included city editorials along Sydney Harbour. It came during a new, focused chapter in her career after her split from comedian David Walliams. On the rocks of Bondi, Lara Stone showed that she still knows exactly how to command a camera, blending high fashion with the wild beauty of the Pacific coast.
